Rams End Lady Roadrunners Season In SSAC Quarterfinals


DALTON, Ga. – The Lady Roadrunners season came to a close on Wednesday with a 2-1 loss to Mobile (Ala.) in the quarterfinals of the SSAC Women's Soccer Tournament at Lakeshore Park in Dalton on Wednesday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 UM) UM: Sophie Walsh finished off a cross from Anakah Madril in the 38' to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.
SECOND HALF
  • (2-0 UM) UM: Maria Eduarda Rocha danced with the ball and found some clearing in the 69' screaming a ball past Brooke Alvarez for the second Mobile goal of the evening.
  • (2-1 UM) DS: The Lady Roadrunners got on the board with a nice goal in the by Ava Van Doren in the 88'.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) falls to (9-9 overall) with the loss, while Mobile (Ala.) improves to (4-11-2 overall) with the win. Ava Van Doren score the only goal for the Lady Birds with an assist from Brianna Smotherman.
 
The Rams clipped the Lady Roadrunners in shots at 11-10 and held a 5-3 advantage in shots on goal. Brooke Alvarez recorded 3 saves on the night.

UP NEXT
The Lady Roadrunners end the season at .500 and will kickoff again next Fall.
