Lady Roadrunners Drop Decision To Martin Methodist (Tenn.)


DALTON, Ga. – Dalton State scored the first goal of the match, but couldn't keep up with the high-powered attack from Martin Methodist (Tenn.), falling 7-1 to the visiting Lady RedHawks at Lakeshore Park Soccer Complex on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0) DS: Nicole Perez hit a strike that went over the outstretched arms of Brooke Shavers for the first goal of the day in the 6'.
  • (1-1) T: The Lady RedHawks tied it up in the 12' when Suzuho Yamasaki found Isabelle Vazquez for the equalizer.
  • (2-1) MMC: A foul in the box sent Yuki Watari to the PK spot where she converted to give Martin Methodist the lead.
  • (3-1) MMC: Watari added another goal in the 42' to send the teams into the break with MMC up by two goals.
 
SECOND HALF
  • (4-1) MMC: Watari hit the hat trick in the 58' to put the Lady RedHawks up by three.
  • (5-1) MMC: Estelle Badoedana Ekada knocked in the first of two scores in the 64'.
  • (6-1) MMC: Adisa Amang tallied the sixth goal of the afternoon for Martin Methodist in the 85'.
  • (7-1) MMC: Ekada got her second goal and the last of the day in the 87'.
 
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State falls to (3-2 overall) with the loss, while Martin Methodist (Tenn.) improves to (4-0 overall) with the win.

Nicole Perez scored for the Lady Birds, her second of the season. Brooke Alvarez played solid in net, but the Lady RedHawk attack proved too powerful to stop.
 
UP NEXT
The Lady Roadrunners will be in action again on Saturday, November 14 when they will be the first game of a doubleheader with the men's team as both squads take on Cumberlands (Ky.). Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
