(RV) Dalton State Runs Unbeaten Streak to 11 Matches With Road Victory At Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – (RV) Dalton State improved their unbeaten streak to 11 games with a 2-1 victory over Faulkner (Ala.) in SSAC action at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium in Montgomery, Ala. on Saturday night.

THE FIRST HALF
After each team got a shot on goal in the first 10 minutes, the Roadrunners gained the momentum and fired five shots in an eight minute stretch. Eagle goalkeeper Caio Calado collected four saves while another was blocked on its way to the net.

The barrage of shots eventually led to a goal for Dalton State as Noah Thomas put one home on an assist from Jeremiah Ruth for a 1-0 lead. The Roadrunners tried to add to it, but a Santiago Moore screamer hit the crossbar and bounced back.

Faulkner mounted one last attack before the half in an effort to tie the match before halftime. With just under a minute left, Pedro Moura and Carlos Buruca combined to find Sam Kelly for the equalizer as the match went into the break tied at 1-1.

THE SECOND HALF
The Eagles began an action packed second half with two shots on Aaron Fraire that Fraire turned away. From there, each squad traded offensive possessions looking to score the go-ahead goal.

At the 70' mark, the Roadrunners gained the momentum and sent four shots at Calado in a five minute stretch. The last found its mark as Kevin Villatoro found the back of the net on an assist from Tom Bentham for a 2-1 lead.

Faulkner immediately mounted an attack looking to tie the match, but Fraire stoned both Eagle opportunities. It would be the last chance for Faulkner as the Roadrunner D stepped up and did not allow another shot past the 86' mark and held on for a 2-1 conference victory.
