Early Lead Evaporates For Dalton State In Loss To #15 Bethel (Tenn.)


DALTON, Ga. – (RV) Dalton State held the lead at the half, but three second period goals from Pascal Mohungsi propelled #15 Bethel (Tenn.) to a 3-2 win over the Roadrunners in Southern States Athletic Conference action at Lakeshore Park Soccer Complex in Dalton on Thursday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • (DS 1-0): The Roadrunners were the recipients of an own goal by Bethel in the 27' and took a 1-0 lead that they held at the half.
  • (BU 1-1): Pascal Mohungsi went to work in the 49' and put a ball past Aaron Fraire to tie the match at 1-1.
  • (BU 2-1): Mohungsi struck again in the 73' to put Bethel ahead by one goal.
  • (BU 3-1): Mohungsi completed the hat trick in the 81' on an assist from Jaiquan Bristol to put the Wildcats up by two.
  • (DS 3-2): Dalton State closed the gap to one in the 86' when Zachary Perry put home a corner kick off the boot of Santiago Moore.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) falls to (11-4-1 overall, 3-3 SSAC) with the loss, while #15 Bethel (Tenn.) improves to (12-3-2 overall, 5-1-1 SSAC) with the win. In a relative even matchup, Dalton State claimed the shot count 11-10 with Bethel nipping the Roadrunners in shots on goal 7-6.
 
Justin Riescher, Kevin Villatoro, and Zachary Perry led DS with two shots each. Perry knocked one of his in the back of the net in the 86'. Santiago Moore claimed another assist, his team leading fifth of the season. Aaron Fraire notched four saves in goal.
 
Pascal Mohungsi was a one-man show for the Wildcats completing a hat trick on six total shots. Leandro Faria and Luis Borja combined for five saves for Bethel.

(RV) Dalton State hits the pitch again at Lakeshore Park for Senior Day on Saturday, November 2 when they host (RV) Martin Methodist (Tenn.). Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
