Roadrunners Hit The Road To Take On Reinhardt Tonight

DALTON, Ga. – Dalton State hits the hardwood tonight looking for payback against Reinhardt (Ga.). Last season, the Roadrunners opened up with the Eagles who scored a 92-86 win at Mashburn Arena. This year, DS makes the hour-long trip to Waleska looking to avenge the loss and take down Reinhardt on their home court.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
REINHARDT (Ga.)
The Eagles return only six players from last season's roster and lost their top five scorers that produced 86% of their offense. Just four of those six received any kind of playing time. Their top returning player is junior Chris Rogers who averaged six points and 3.7 rebounds per game in 27 games played. Also returning is Jervon Walker, Josh Daniels, Kyle Smith, Dustin Ladson, and Cade Archer.
 
Rogers and Ladson are the only two players who played against Dalton State one year ago. Rogers fouled out with seven points on 3-of-8 shooting and two boards in 12 minutes of play, while Ladson played 15 minutes going 2-for-3 from behind the arc with six points.
 
DALTON STATE
DS put together a fierce defensive effort as five Birds scored in double-figures in their 87-52 win over Oakwood (Ala.) on Saturday. The Roadrunners forced 38 turnovers and turned them into 33 points on the offensive end. They also held the Ambassadors to 22.5 % (16-of-71) from the field and 23.8% (5-of-21) from behind the arc.
 
Senior Jordan Young put up a double-double with 21 points and 11 boards in his first game as a Roadrunner. Rodley Adjei (14), Randy Bell (13), Kevon Tucker (12) and C.J. Perry (10) were the other Roadrunners in double-digits. Adjei, Bell, and Tucker added a combined 12 steals, while Igor Stokic and Sean Cranney contributed 10 points and 9 off the glass coming off the bench.
 
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Ambassadors managed to gain the rebounding edge (46-43) late in the contest, but it appears that won't happen often as the Roadrunners crashed the boards hard. Look for them to turn defense into offense and limit the Eagles possessions in this one.
