Roadrunners Begin Two-Game Home Stand On Thursday

DALTON, Ga. – Dalton State continues the 2018-19 season Thursday night with a 7:30 p.m. contest with #10 Stillman (Ala.) at Mashburn Arena. It is the first of an important two-game home stand for the Roadrunners.
 
Dalton State (Ga.) (11-8, 6-5 SSAC), in its first season under interim head coach Alex Ireland, is coming off a big road win at Martin Methodist (Tenn.) (77-72) on January 21. The Roadrunners are 6-3 at home this season including winning their last two games against Florida College (93-84) on January 10 and Brewton-Parker (Ga.) (98-74) on January 12. They are 3-1 at home against SSAC opponents.
 
Stillman (Ala.) (17-2, 9-2 SSAC), in its 2nd season under head coach John Teasley, is on a three game winning streak with wins over (RV) Bethel (Tenn.) (90-75) on January 17, Blue Mountain (Miss.) (100-88) on January 19, and Mobile (Ala.) (94-87) on January 21. The Tigers are 7-2 on the road this season with losses coming to #22 William Carey (Miss.) (73-69) on January 5 and Middle Georgia State (73-52) on January 12. Teasley comes into the contest with a record of 44-7 since taking over as the head man of the Tigers.

  • Dalton State Athletics is offering federal government employees complimentary tickets to two upcoming men's basketball games. The offer is good for Thursday's game versus #10 Stillman (Ala.) and Saturday's game versus Mobile (Ala.). Patrons can redeem the ticket offer on the day of the event by presenting a form of government identification that recognizes them as a government employee to the box office at Dalton Convention Center. Those coming with a government employee can purchase a reserved ticket for the discounted price of $6 (regular price $11).
  • Stillman ranks in the top 10 in the NAIA in five statistical categories: 4th in offensive rebounds per game (14.6) and scoring offense per game (94.1), 6th in rebounds per game (44.3), 9th in total blocks (90), and 10th in blocks per game (4.7). They are just outside the top-10 in 11th in scoring margin (16.0).
  • The Tigers allow an average of 78.1 points per game, while the Roadrunners allow 78.2.
  • Stllman have hit double-digit treys in 12 of 19 games and have attempted less than 70 field goals in a game on just six occasions.
  • Prince McDaniel leads the Tigers in scoring at 20.4 per game. He missed five games in January where fellow teammate Ravion Henry picked up the slack. Henry averaged 29 ppg over the games McDaniel missed.
  • Elijah Staley has come on strong as of late for Dalton State averaging 23.7 points and seven rebounds in his last three games.
  • The Tigers have scored over 100 points eight times this season and are 8-0 when they hit triple-digits.
  • Dalton State started the conference slate with a lot of road trips, but the schedule will be more manageable in late January and February as the Roadrunners will have seven home games and host the top four teams in the conference, William Carey (Miss.), Stillman (Ala.), Bethel (Tenn.), and Loyola (La.) at Mashburn Arena.
