Lady Roadrunners Extend Win Streak, Defeat St. Andrews (N.C.)

DALTON, Ga. - The Lady Birds would use two goals in a 90-second span along with stingy defense to defeat St. Andrews (N.C.) 2-0 at Lakeshore Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.

THE FIRST HALF
Both teams would come out playing tough, but it would not be long before the Lady Roadrunners would take control. Most of the first half would be played in the St. Andrews half of the field, but missed opportunities would be the key. Dalton State would out shoot the Knights 12-0 in the first half, but could not find the goal. Even with the huge advantage in shots the teams would enter halftime tied at 0-0.

THE SECOND HALF
Dalton State would come out of the break pressing and looking for the advantage. They would find it in the 57' when a Sarah Chamale shot would bounce off the hands of St. Andrews goalkeeper Elizabeth Garner and trickle over the goal line for a 1-0 Lady Roadrunner lead. On the ensuing kickoff, Rocio Carrizales would intercept a pass at midfield and send it ahead to Adriana Romero who would do the rest, beating Garner for the second goal of the afternoon. The stingy Lady Bird defense would do the rest holding the Knights to just one shot all afternoon and holding on for the 2-0 victory.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State improves to 3-0 overall, while St. Andrews drops to 0-1 on their young season. Junior Adriana Romero recorded her fourth goal of the season, while Sarah Chamale knocked home her third. The Lady Roadrunners out shot the Knights 22-1, 10-1 on goal and controlled the pace of the entire match.

UP NEXT
