Lady Birds Explode For Twelve Goals In Blowout Win


DALTON, Ga. - The Lady Roadrunners got out to a quick start and never took their foot off the gas pedal, exploding for 12 goals in a 12-0 win over Oakwood (Ala.) at Lakeshore Park Soccer Complex on Sunday.

THE FIRST HALF
Yovanka Pineda got the goal party started with shot to the back of the net in the 4'. Caylee Carpenter would add another in the 5' for a quick 2-0 lead. The lead would stay at two for the next 30 minutes until Griselda Ruiz got on the board with an assist from Adriana Delgado. Delgado and Maria Ruiz would add goals before the half to give the Lady Birds a 5-0 lead going into the break.

THE SECOND HALF
Andrea Garcia started off the first minute of the second half with a goal to extend the lead to six. Adrianna Arjoon notched a goal in the 49', while Andrea Lopez scored back-to-back goals in the 50' & 52' to quickly get the lead to nine.

Carpenter and Maria Vazquez added two more to the scoreboard in the 53' & 55' respectively for an 11-0 lead. Kaela Ebanks would finish it off with a goal in the 88' as Dalton State cruised to a 12-0 win.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State improves to 5-1-1 overall on the season with conference play on the horizon. Andrea Lopez and Caylee Carpenter led the way with two goals a piece. Lopez collected an assist on another. Adriana Delgado notched one goal to go with two assist.

The Lady Birds out shot the Ambassadors 42-0 overall, and 30-0 on goal. Shannon Tool of Oakwood collected 18 saves, but had trouble stopping the barrage of shots that headed her way.

UP NEXT
The Lady Roadrunners will have a week off before they travel to Huntsville, Ala. for a match against Ambassadors in the second match of a home-home. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (CT) on September 22.
