DALTON, Ga. - #18-ranked Dalton State won a battle of nationally ranked teams, defeating #11 Faulkner (Ala.) 75-63 at Mashburn Arena in Dalton, Ga. on Saturday evening.

THE FIRST HALF
To start the game, the Roadrunners fell to a quick deficit of six points, but Dalton State would tighten up on D and turn good defense into easy points to back up early, 15-7. The Roadrunners would control the tempo of this half and hold the Eagles to a menial 28% from the floor, and would also put up a plus 13 advantage on the glass.

Solid play on both ends of the floor by the Roadrunners saw them end the half up 40-27.

THE SECOND HALF
To begin the half both teams would trade baskets, but Dalton State would apply staunch defense to stay ahead, 56-42. The Eagles would show heart and fight back by catching fire behind the three point line to cut the lead to 64-57 with 4:45 on the clock.

The Roadrunners would ice the game, due to Reed Dungan's clutch free-throws and smooth jumper to make the final score 75-63 in flamboyant fashion.

THE REST OF THE STORY
#18 Dalton State improves to (11-4 overall, 4-1 SSAC), while #11 Faulkner falls to (12-3 overall, 4-1 SSAC) with the loss. Senior Reed Dungan led the Roadrunners with 16 points and 5 rebounds in the win. Seniors Mon'Darius Black and Isaiah Box combined for 22 points, 3 steals, and 9 assist.

Marquis Grays led all Eagles with 19 points, while Logan Jozwiak and Lucas Luttrell followed him up combining for 27 points.

UP NEXT
#18 Dalton State will be back on the court on Tuesday, January 9 when they take on SSAC opponent Blue Mountain (Miss.) at Mashburn Arena. Tip-Off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
