Roadrunners Take The Pitch Today, Face Shorter (Ga.)

DALTON, Ga. - #23 Dalton State (2-1 overall) will take the pitch tonight as a ranked team for the first time since 2015 as they face NCAA Division II member Shorter (Ga.) at Lakeshore Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

DALTON STATE
The Roadrunners broke into the Top 25 this week and are looking to back up their ranking. They are coming off a huge weekend in Thomasville, Ga. where they narrowly lost to (RV) St. Thomas (Fla.), but defeated #12 Thomas (Ga.). Santiago Moore is quickly establishing himself as a player to defend around. He had two key goals in the match versus St. Thomas, and has three total. Freshman Kevin Villatoro has come on strong as well with two goals early in the season, including the game winner against Thomas (Ga.). The Roadrunners will be without second leading goal scorer Sebastian Guzman tonight. He will have to sit out after receiving a red card in the match against Thomas.

SHORTER
The Hawks enter the match tonight with an 0-3 record after a defeat at the hands of Florida Tech on Monday. The defense has looked shaky early on, allowing 13 goals on 31 shots on goal through three games. In comparison, Shorter has scored five goals, with only 16 shots on goal. Hawk netminder Sean Carpenter is only stopping 60% of shots he has faced. If the Roadrunner offense can put pressure on the Hawks defense, they can and will score.
