#15 Roadrunners Thump Trinity Baptist


DALTON, Ga. - The #15-ranked Dalton State Men's Soccer team attacked early and often and held the visiting Eagles of Trinity Baptist scoreless in a convincing 7-0 win on Saturday afternoon at Lakeshore Park Soccer Complex in Dalton.

THE FIRST HALF
The Roadrunners would get on the board early off the leg of Jose Villalobos. Villalobos would fire a shot from 20 yards out, striking the back of the net and giving Dalton State an early 1-0 lead. The Birds would extend the lead to 2-0 when Santiago Moore found a cutting Jordan Man in the 22'. Moore would collect a goal of his own on a break-a-way a minute later to give the Roadrunners a 3-0 lead. Dalton State would continue to attack as Andres Pena scored to extend the Roadrunner lead to 4-0 going to halftime.

THE SECOND HALF
The #15 Roadrunners would continue to press after the break. Jordan Man would collect his second goal of the day, finding the back of the net in the 56'. Junior Ramiro Guerrero notched the sixth Dalton State goal of the day when he sent a screamer past a diving Jason Aultman. Dalton State would keep their foot on the gas pedal the rest of the game. Daniel Valenciano got in on the scoring act when he sent a looper over the head of Aultman from 40 yards out to stretch the lead to 7-0 in the 77'. The defense would do the rest, preserving the shutout in the 7-0 win.

THE REST OF THE STORY
#15 Dalton State improves to 7-1 on the season, while Trinity Baptist drops to 4-5. In all, six Roadrunners scored on the afternoon, with Santiago Moore adding three points to his already impressive total of 24 on the year. The Roadrunners out shot the Eagles 19-5 with 15 of those coming on goal. Samuel Fraire collected three saves, recording his second shutout of the season.

The #15-ranked Roadrunners will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. on Thursday, October 5, for a date with #1 William Carey (Miss.). Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (CDT).
