St. Thomas Hands Roadrunners First Loss


THOMASVILLE, Ga. - After lengthy weather delays, Dalton State and St. Thomas finally got on the pitch. The result was a hard fought 3-2 loss in the second match of the day at the TU Invitational in Thomasville, Ga. on Saturday.

THE FIRST HALF
Both teams traded possessions for the opening 25 minutes. The Bobcats would strike first in 26th minute on the leg of Santiago Dirrocco. The Roadrunners would have scoring opportunities, but could not convert as STU went into the half with a 1-0 lead.

THE SECOND HALF
The intensity would pick up in the second half as Dalton State looked to get on the board. They would strike in the 63rd minute as Santiago Moore found the back of the net on an assist from Daniel Valenciano to even the score at 1-1. Two minutes later, Valenciano would setup Sebastian Guzman for he second Roadrunner goal and the 2-1 lead. The lead looked secure until the final seven minutes when Bobcat star Frederico Moronell got loose for two goals to lift St. Thomas to victory.

THE REST OF THE STORY
St. Thomas improves to 2-0 on the season, while Dalton State falls to 1-1. Sophomore Santiago Moore and junior Sebastian Guzman collect their second goals of the year. Junior Daniel Valenciano contributes two assist on the day. The Roadrunners will have a quick turnaround as they play #12 Thomas (Ga.) at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
