#3 Roadrunners Face Middle Georgia In SSAC Quarterfinals


MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The #3-ranked Dalton State basketball team will kick-off their Southern States Athletic Conference tournament today against Middle Georgia at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex in Montgomery, AL.  Tip-Off is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. (EST).

DALTON STATE
The SSAC Regular Season Co-Champions come into the tournament ranked #3 in the country and riding a three game winning streak.  Conference Newcomer of the Year and first team All-Conference performer Carnilious Simmons is having a monster year down low averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds per game.  He will have to have a big game in the paint today as the Roadrunners will look to establish the lane and the glass.  Benat Hevia, Reed Dungan and Mike Harden will have to have big games today on the defensive side of the ball if Dalton State wants to slow down the speedy Middle Georgia guards.  Sayvon Wilson will have his hands full with SSAC Player of the Year Kieston Standfield, who had 26 points and 14 rebounds yesterday against Brewton-Parker.  The Roadrunners win if they contain Standfield and control the paint.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
MIDDLE GEORGIA
The name of the game is stop Kieston Standfield.  When he goes, so do the Knights.  He is hard to stop, but can be contained.  Look for Dalton State to rotate another player over when Standfield touches the ball.  If the Roadrunners do that, they will have to play Roshaun Milline honest.  Milline is a streaky shooter, but can fill it up if given open looks.  Dalton State will have to play tough perimeter defense if they rotate over on Standfield.  Brandon Ingleton had a big game yesterday as well with 16 points and 5 boards.  Simmons will have to lock down Ingleton when the Roadrunners rotate an extra man over on Standfield.
