#5 Roadrunners End Regular Season Today At Coastal Georgia


DALTON, Ga. - The #5 Dalton State Roadrunners end the regular season today when they face-off against Coastal Georgia at Howard Coffin Gym in Brunswick, GA.  Tip-Off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (EST)

DALTON STATE
The Roadrunners still have a shot at the regular season championship.  A win coupled with a William Carey (Miss.) loss will give Dalton State the SSAC regular season title and an automatic bid to Kansas City for the NAIA National Tournament.  If both teams win the Roadrunners will still have a shot at the title but will need help from other teams in the conference.  The Roadrunners focus today will be on Coastal Georgia.  The Mariners fought the Roadrunners hard in their last meeting on January 21, a 79-70 Dalton State win.  Carnilious Simmons continues to be a force in the middle, with 20 points and 8 boards in his last game against Brewton-Parker (Ga.).  Isaiah Box, Reed Dungan, and Mike Harden are playing well as a backcourt trio.  Mon'Darius is starting to find his shot again after struggling in the middle part of the season.  Dalton State will win if they control the glass and the paint. 

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
COASTAL GEORGIA
To slow down the Mariners, the Roadrunners will have to stop Haylen Washington.  The 6-5 forward has turned it on lately and is averaging 15 points per game.  In their last meeting, Washington was held to 4 points.  Look for Dalton State to play him the same way and limit his touches.  Brandon Martin gave Dalton State fits the last time these two teams met, going 9-11 from the field, 5-6 from deep and scoring 25 points.  The Roadrunners will have to focus on perimeter defense to keep Martin in check.
