Blue Mountiain (Miss.) Comes To Town Tonight On Senior Night

DALTON, Ga. - The #5 Dalton State basketball team looks to rebound from a tough loss against #17 William Carey (Miss.), when they take on Blue Mountain (Miss.) on Senior night at Mashburn Arena. Tip-Off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Roadrunners sit at 21-4 overall, 13-4 SSAC, and are now 1 GB of William Carey for first place in the conference. They will need help if they want the automatic bid for being the SSAC Regular Season Champion, but all hopes for a trip to Kansas City will not be dashed if they do not win the regular season. The team has had some struggles the last few weeks, but look to rounding back into form. Carnilious Simmons set a new school record for rebounds in a game with 24 last game versus William Carey. His leadership down low will be counted on heavily today. Mike Harden and Reed Dungan continue to play good basketball, while Isaiah Box a struggled from the field lately. Look for him to get back on track tonight against a Blue Mountain squad that allows its opponents to shoot over 40% from three.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

The Toppers have three scorers that average double-figures, led by Jay Howard. Howard averages 12.7 points per game mostly coming off the bench. Connor Helvig is the unquestioned emotional leader. Helvig averages 10.4 points per game and when he goes, so do the Toppers. Their weakness is rebounding. If the Roadrunners can crash the boards and make good on second chance opportunities, they can win.
