Dalton State Faces High Scoring Bethel

DALTON, Ga. - The #4 Roadrunners of Dalton State will face the number 1 ranked scoring offense in the country today when they square-off against Bethel (Tenn.) University at Crisp Arena in McKenzie, TN. Tip-Off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (CST)

DALTON STATE
For just the second time this year, Dalton State is entering a game following a loss. The Roadrunners couldn't slow Martin Methodist (Tenn.) down in the second half of Thursday's game and suffered their worst loss in program history, a 26-point defeat to the RedHawks.  Martin Methodist shot 52% from the field, and at one point late in the second half were making shots at a staggering 71% clip.  Reed Dungan was a bright spot pouring in 14 points as the only Roadrunner to reach double-figures. Dalton State lives on strong defense and turnovers. In Thursday's matchup, the Roadrunners only forced 9 turnovers while committing 16 of their own and shot poorly (37%) from the field. Look for the Roadrunners to come out and make a statement today and pressure Bethel into making mistakes. Carnilious Simmons, Isaiah Box and Mike Harden will be counted on to make strong performances along with Reed Dungan and Mon'Darius Black.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
BETHEL

The Wildcats enter the match-up today at 17-8 overall, 8-7 in the SSAC. Since Daren Davidson went down with an injury against Dalton State on January 7, the Bethel offense has revolved around Isaac Edmondson. Edmondson has picked up the slack, averaging 19.2 points per game since Davidson went out of the lineup. The high scoring Bethel attack averages 91.5 ppg, which ranks number 1 in the country. They amass a lot of their points with second chance opportunities as they rank 3rd in the country in offensive rebounds per game at 14.7. The 4th-ranked Roadrunners will have their hands full slowing down the Wildcat attack. Dalton State must apply pressure to force Bethel into mistakes and crash the boards to limit second chance opportunities if they are to win the game and avoid a two game skid.
