Super Man Comes Up Big In Double-OT As #19 Roadrunners Win Second Straight

DALTON, Ga. - Jordan Man scored the golden goal 1:05 into the second overtime as #19 Dalton State picked up its second conference win, 3-2 over (RV) Martin Methodist at Lakeshore Park Soccer Complex on Saturday.

THE FIRST HALF
Martin Methodist came out of pressing hard from kickoff, out shooting the Roadrunners 4-1 in the first 14 minutes of the contest. Both teams would settle in after the initial Redhawk onslaught, trading possessions back and forth. The Redhawks would strike first in the 39' when Jack McCarren found a loose ball at the top of the box and put it past Samuel Fraire for the 1-0 lead. The lead would be short lived as Dalton State would press right down the field after the kickoff. A foul in the box 10 seconds after the Martin Methodist goal setup a penalty kick for Santiago Moore. Moore would convert to tie the game at 1-1.

With time running out in the first half, Jonas Arcalean squeezed through the Roadrunner D for the second Redhawk goal and a 2-1 lead going into halftime.

THE SECOND HALF
Both teams would put on a great display of defense in the second half as the goalkeepers stole the show. The shots were there for both teams, but both netminders came up with big saves. Dalton State would break through in the 61' when Jose Villalobos captured a loose ball at the top of the box and beat Martin Methodist's Naoya Fugono to tie the match at 2-2. Both teams had multiple opportunities to seize the game, but could not capitalize as regulation ended in a 2-2 tie.

OVERTIME
The first overtime would go scoreless as neither team could find the back of the net. Dalton State would get an opportunity 1:05 into the second overtime when Daniel Valenciano sent a beautiful ball into Jordan Man. Man would do the rest, beating Fugono for the golden goal and the 3-2 Roadrunner win.
