Roadrunners Tame Wildcats

DALTON, Ga. – The Roadrunners improved their record to 12-1 overall, 4-1 in the SSAC, by defeating Bethel University (Tenn.) 80-60 on Saturday at Mashburn Arena.
 
THE FIRST HALF
Dalton State was met with a fierce Wildcats team that pressured the Roadrunners throughout the half. The Roadrunners grew an 8-point lead with a three pointer by Isaiah Box to put Dalton State up 17-9 with 11:15 left. The Wildcats closed the gap by going on a 9-2 run to put them behind by 1 point at 19-18 with 8:08 left. Both teams would continue to battle for an advantage as the Roadrunners narrowly kept their lead going into the break at 31-29.
 
THE SECOND HALF
The Roadrunners came out in the second half and made a statement, going on an 11-2 run that would put Dalton State ahead by 11 points at 42-31 with 17:17 left. The Wildcats were unable to rally a comeback, and the Roadrunners would go on to grow their lead with a good field goal by Reed Dungan to 20 points at 76-56 with 2:54 left. The Roadrunners would end the night by defeating the Wildcats 80-60.
 
THE REST OF THE STORY
 The Roadrunners had three players score in double-figures led by Isaiah Box with 16 points. Sayvon Wilson continued his strong performance this season with 14 points and 16 rebounds. J'Quayveon Williams rounded out the team with 12 points scored. Carnilious Simmons contributed 11 rebounds, 8 of which were on defense.

The Wildcats had four players score in double-figures. Andrew Rogan led the team with 12 points, Darren Davidson contributed 11 points, Marcus Burnett scored 10 points and had 14 rebounds, and Issac Edmondson had 10 points. Bethel (Tenn.) drops to 12-4 overall for the season, 3-3 in the SSAC, with the loss.
 
The Roadrunners continue their season as they travel to Cochran, GA on Thursday, November 12 to face Middle Georgia State University at 7:30 p.m.
