Basketball Back At Mashburn Tonight

DALTON, Ga. - The #9-ranked Dalton State basketball team will be in action tonight when they face SSAC opponent Martin Methodist (Tenn.) at Mashburn Arena. Tip-Off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Roadrunners are coming off a solid road trip where they defeated previously #22 Loyola (La.), 100-68 and Mobile (Ala.), 83-59. The solid road trip, coupled with wins against Life (Ga.), Cumberland (Tenn.) and Fisk (Tenn.) have Dalton State sitting at 10-1 overall, 2-1 in the SSAC and ranked #9 in the country. Defense is the name of the game for the Roadrunners as they average 11.36 steals per game, good enough for 2nd in the nation. Mike Harden has emerged as a playmaker for Dalton State. Providing a spark off the bench, Harden is averaging 12.3 points per game over the last three contest.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Martin Methodist
The RedHawks come into the game at 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the Southern States Athletic Conference. They are battle tested, having played the likes of Pikeville (Ky.) and Georgetown (Ky.) who are perennial national title contenders. They are led by guard play and that starts with Caleb Chowby. Chowby averages 18.7 points per game and can be lethal from three, if left open. His backcourt counterpart, Albert Lynch averages 15.4 points per game and is the teams leading rebounder at 5.8 per game.
