BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – The Roadrunners would start slow out of the gate, but a surge in the second half against the Blue Mountian (Miss.) Toppers would give Dalton State another big win on the road 89-65, at Tyler Gymnasium in Blue Mountain, MS.

THE FIRST HALF
Dalton State started out the game slow but established an early lead of 6 points at 8-2 with 16:37 left. Blue Mountain had difficulty finding their stride in the opening minutes, but appeared to find their groove after a three by Chase Brittingham would cap a 7-0 run to put the Toppers ahead at 18-17 with 8:20 left. The Roadrunners would counter with a 13-4 run of their own to give Dalton State an 8-point lead at 32-24 with 3:54 left. The Toppers would manage to shrink the Roadrunner's lead to 3 points at 37-34 at the end of the half.

THE SECOND HALF
The Toppers would continue their momentum into the second half when a good three-pointer by Conor Helvig gave the Toppers the lead, 43-42 with 17:22 left. However, Blue Mountain's defense would fail to hold and the Roadrunners would cap a 10-2 run with a three of their own by Reed Dungan to put Dalton State ahead at 52-45 with 14:24 remaining. The Roadrunners would begin to pull away with the game as they grew the lead to 20 at 82-62 when an offensive rebound by Carnilious Simmons turned into 2 points in the paint with 1:45 left. Dalton State would cruise down the stretch and end their long road trip with and 89-65 win over Blue Mountain.

THE REST OF THE STORY
The Roadrunners improve to 15-1 overall on the season, 7-1 in the SSAC with the win. The victory also extends the team's win streak to 10 games. The Roadrunners had four players score in double-figures led by Isaiah Box with 22 points. Reed Dungan added 16 points, and Mike Harden went 6-8 from the free throw line for 16 points. Carnilious Simmons was the fourth Roadrunner in double-figures with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

The Toppers drop to 7-6 overall, 4-4 in the SSAC with the loss. Denio Chirindza led Blue Mountian with 18 points and went 8-10 from the free throw line. Conor Helvig and Chase Brittingham each contributed 12 and 11 points respectively.

The Roadrunners return home to face-off against Brewton-Parker College (Ga.) at Mashburn Arena on Thursday, January 19, at 7:30 p.m.
