Dalton State Closes Out Road Trip With An Afternoon Game At Blue Mountain (Miss.)

DALTON, Ga. - The 9th-ranked Dalton State basketball team will conclude their three game road trip this afternoon when they face Blue Mountain (Miss.) at Tyler Gymnasium at 5:00 p.m. (EST) in Blue Mountain, MS.

DALTON STATE
The Roadrunners are coming off a hard-fought win against #18 William Carey on the road on January 14 and looking to keep the momentum.  Junior guard Reed Dungan made a statement for Player of the Week honors after his performance against the Crusaders, going 7-11 from three and pouring in 24 points including the game clinching free throws.  He will look to stay hot from the field.  Isaiah Box continues to play well this season, hitting clutch three's and making dazzling passes around the court.  Forward Carnilious Simmons looks to get back in stride after being limited because of early foul trouble against William Carey.  Dalton State will have to keep the momentum up today as the matchup with Blue Mountain sets up as a potential trap game, with the Roadrunners coming off a huge win on Saturday coupled with the end of a longer than usual road trip.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
BLUE MOUNTAIN

Blue Mountain is able to play with the best when they want to.  They received votes in the first poll of the season and have some impressive wins against Bethel (Tenn.) and Martin Methodist (Tenn.).  They are 7-5 overall, 4-3 in the SSAC and led by Jay Howard.  The 6-2 guard leads the Toppers in points (12.6) and is the only Blue Mountain player to average double-figures.  Blue Mountain gets off to a slow start, but usually rallies back in the second half.  They could make it a game if they hang with the Roadrunners in the first half and manage to not let the game get away from them.
