Roadrunners Fall To Coastal Georgia

DALTON, Ga. - The Dalton State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision against Coastal Georgia on Friday night at Bandy Gymnasium. The Lady Roadrunners fall to 4-10 overall and 3-6 in the Southern States Athletic Conference.

The the first set was close early, but the Mariners would pull away late for a 25-14 win. The second set belonged to Coastal Georgia. The Mariners would jump out to a 16-4 lead and go on to win 25-7.

The third set was would see the Lady Roadrunners take the fight to the defending SSAC champions. Dalton State would take the lead at 12-10 and force a Coastal Georgia timeout. The Lady Roadrunners would continue to fight, but he Mariners were just too much down the stretch as they pulled away to a 25-18 win.

The Roadrunners were out hit .397-.000 and committed 20 attack errors.

Dalton State was led offensively by Anna Metzler as she totaled 6 kills on the night. Julia Borges and Taylor Dowdell would add to the Roadrunner effort with 4 kills each.

Defensively, starting libero Karly Newman led the team with 4 digs.

The Roadrunners return to action on Saturday,October 1, when they square-off with in-state Middle Georgia at 12:00 p.m. in Bandy Gym.
