Dalton, Ga. – The Dalton State volleyball team got off to a great start Saturday afternoon, but Martin Methodist (4-8 overall, and 2-2 SSAC) came back to take the Roadrunners 3 games to 2.
 
Dalton State (3-6 overall, 2-2 SSAC) won the first two sets by identical 25-22 scores. The visiting Redhawks rallied with wins in the third and fourth sets 25-17 and 25-22. The tie breaker was all MM at 15-7.
 
Anna Metzler, a junior from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, led Dalton State with 16 kills and 20 digs. Ooltewah native Karly Newman, a senior, added 19 digs.
 
The Roadrunners will now hit the road for three big SSAC games. They will play at the University of Mobile on Friday at 8:30 p.m. ET, at William Carey in Hattiesburg, Ms. on Saturday at 8:00 p.m., and then on to Loyola in New Orleans on Sunday afternoon.
