Men's Tennis Coach Zack Rogers Is Heading To The Coast

Rogers Starts Sept. 1st as Men's and Women's Coach at Coastal Georgia

Brunswick, Ga. – William Carlton, Director of Athletics at College of Coastal Georgia, announced Monday that Zack Rogers has been hired as the new men's and women's tennis coach for the Mariners.

Rogers, the former Dalton State men's tennis coach, will officially assume his new job on September 1st.

The Dalton High School graduate guided the Roadrunners through the first three seasons of a brand new program, compiling a 45-18 record. The DS men made it to the NAIA National Tournament in the first two seasons of eligibility, 2015 and 2016.

This past season, Dalton State advanced to the semi-finals of the NAIA Men's Championship before falling to eventual national champions Georgia Gwinnett. The Roadrunners were ranked fourth in last spring's final NAIA Top 25 Poll. Both Dalton State and Coastal Georgia compete in the Southern States Athletic Conference and the NAIA.

"It is hard to put into words how appreciative I am of the opportunity I was given to be a part of the tennis program at Dalton State," said Rogers. "I am extremely proud of what the kids, Michel (Bates) and I were able to accomplish in such a short period of time. It has been an honor and a pleasure to be able to serve my hometown community and to be a part of the rebirth of athletics at Dalton State. It was an extremely difficult decision to make, but I am excited about the possibilities and challenges presented by my position as the men's and women's head coach at the College of Coastal Georgia."

With the Mariners, Rogers inherits a men's tennis team that finished 2016 ranked eighth in the country. The women have also been nationally ranked.

"I could not be happier for the opportunity that Zack has earned at Coastal Georgia," said Jon Jaudon, DS Interim Director of Athletics. "The chance he has been given to direct both programs at Coastal is too good to pass up."
