The No. 9 ranked Dalton State men's tennis team (3-1 overall, 1-0 SSAC) shut-out Georgia Southwestern State Sunday (0-4) at Lakeshore Park Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners dominated the visiting Hurricanes on their way to a convincing 9-0 win over the NCAA Peach Belt Conference opponents.
"What a great way to wrap up a challenging weekend of tennis," said DS Coach Zack Rogers. "The guys made up for our slow start Saturday and played some of our best doubles of the season."
Doubles:
- Nikolay Nikiforov/Sebastian Dartnell (DS) defeated Steven Blythe/Oliver Marshall (GSWS) 8-4
- Jose Ruda/Adam Hornby (DS) defeated Beau Millwood/Alex Canovas Fernando (GSWS) 8-1
- Edberg Espinoza/Joe Bray (DS) defeated Joel Landis/Ashley (GSWS) 8-0
Â
"The early 3-0 lead allowed me to rest Seb and Jose and get quality singles matches for Eduardo and Hadyn (Fava)," said Rogers. "Edberg showed glimpses of brilliance in a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win at line 1.
Eduardo Cabrera earned the deciding point at line 5 with a near perfect 6-0, 6-1 performance. I couldn't be happier with the way our day and weekend went."
