DALTON, Ga. – The Dalton State Roadrunners (6-1 overall) are set to face the Life University (Ga.) Running Eagles (7-6 overall) at Mashburn Arena this Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. for the last home game of 2016. The Roadrunners have two games on the road before returning to Mashburn Arena on January 5.
This game will mark the second time the Roadrunners and the Eagles have played this season. Back in November the Roadrunners traveled to the Eagles Nest to win a hard fought overtime game that came as close as they come at 91-89. Each team had more than four players score in double-figures, and this rematch will undoubtedly serve as another test for two outstanding teams looking to favorably shape their seasons leading into the new year.
Dalton State College
The Roadrunners are currently coming off back-to-back wins against Fisk University (Tenn.) (97-67) and Cumberland University (Tenn.) (73-67) in the Roadrunner Holiday Classic, and have a 5-1 record at home. In both games, Isaiah Box lead the Roadrunners in scoring.
Life University
The Running Eagles are currently on a two game losing streak suffering losses on the road to Stillman College (Ala.) (96-66) and at home to Concordia College-Selma (83-77), and have a 4-2 record on the road. Dalarian Williams lead the Eagles with 18 points and 14 rebounds in their last match.
TALE OF THE TAPE
This is the fifth meeting all-time between the Roadrunners and Running Eagles with Dalton State holding a 3-1 advantage in the series. The Roadrunners have won three straight in the series with their only loss coming in 2014. This is fast shaping up as a rival for the Roadrunners, as the Eagles handed Dalton State their first ever home loss at Mashburn Arena. The two schools separated by only 71 miles.
