DALTON, Ga. - Dalton State continues to flourish this season defeating Cumberland University (Tenn.) 73-67 in their second Roadrunner Booster Club Classic game .Â
THE FIRST HALF
Early on, the Roadrunners secured a 10-6 lead at 14:20 against the visiting Phoenix with the help of Isaiah Box and Sayvon Williams. Both teams came out strong during the first half but the Roadrunners held onto the lead 22-15 with 9:39 left. At the end, Dalton State kept a tight hold on their 7 point lead 35-29 with the help of striking 3 point shots by
Isaiah Box.Â
THE SECOND HALF

Tensions rose during the second half as Cumberland University fought to close the gap to 1 at  42-41 with 16:47 left. The Phoenix struggled to gain the lead but the Roadrunners were hard to catch at 57-50 with 9:02 left. With the second half winding down, Cumberland University played hard and attempted to catch up, but the strong showing of
Mon'Darius Black secured the Roadrunners' victory 73-67.Â
THE REST OF THE STORY
The win brings Dalton State to 7-1 overall and 5-1 at home. Dalton State was led by the strong showings of top scorer
Isaiah Box with 15 points, followed by
J'Quayveon Williams with 12 points, and
Mon'Darius Black and Sayvon Williams both scoring 11 points.Â
Cumberland University was led by the strong showings of Delaryn Dodds scoring 17 points, Rhyan Townes, 16 Points, and Jamonte Graham, 11 points.Â
