Dominant Performance Secures Roadrunners Win

Dalton State defeats Fisk University (Tenn.) 97-67.

DALTON, Ga. – Dalton State returned to form after their first season loss to defeat Fisk University 97-67 in their first game of the Roadrunner Booster Club Classic on Friday night at Mashburn Arena.
 
THE FIRST HALF
The visiting Bulldogs began at a competitive pace against the Roadrunners, but a good 3-point shot by Isaiah Box and field goal by Sayvon Wilson would establish a 14-6 lead for Dalton State at 15:56. The Bulldogs would go on to shorten the lead to 4 points at 18-14 with 11:46 left, but were unable to keep their stride as the Roadrunners would go on to grow their lead to 45-30 at the break.
 
THE SECOND HALF
Dalton State continued to dominate into the second half through the strong showings of Isaiah Box and J'Quayveon Williams. The Bulldogs were never able to muster a rally and would continue to trial behind the Roadrunners by double-digits throughout the remainder of the game. The Roadrunners would end the game with a lead of 30 points to finish the night at 97-37.
 
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State improves to 6-1 overall for the season and 4-1 at home. The Roadrunners had four players score in double-figures, led by an outstanding showing by Isaiah Box, who went 6-9 on 3-point goals towards for overall score of 24 points. J'Quayveon Williams followed with 21 points and a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line. Sayvon Wilson contributed 16 points and 3 steals. Carnilious Simmons was the fourth Roadrunner in double-digits with 11 points.
 
Fisk University was led by the strong showings of David Patton with 15 points and Joshua Madison with 13 points.
 
The Roadrunners outscored the Bulldogs in the paint 42-20.
 
ON THE HORIZON
Dalton State will move on to face Cumberland University (Tenn.) at Mashburn Arena in the second set of games in the Roadrunner Booster Club Classic on Saturday, December 17 at 4:00 p.m.
