DALTON, Ga. – Life University from the Mid-South Conference came into Bandy Gymnasium Tuesday night and walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Dalton State volleyball team.
The Roadrunners (5-11 overall, 4-6 SSAC) opened with a 25-20 win in the first set, but the visiting Running Eagles then captured three straight sets 25-20, 25-17, and 25-12 to take the match.
Dalton State's
Anna Metzler had 11 kills,
Ryan Burke added 8, while
Julia Borges chipped in with 7 kills. Brook Thomas had 16 assists and
Clarissa Weber 13.
Karly Newman led the Roadrunner defense with 15 digs. Metzler had 10 to complete the double-double. Weber added 8 digs.
ON THE HORIZON
The Lady Roadrunners will travel on Thursday, October 4 to Johnson City, TN to square off with Milligan College. The Lady Roadrunners will return to Bandy Gymnasium on Saturday, October 8 to face Gulf Coast Community College in an exhibition match. Dalton State will return to Southern States Athletic Conference action on Wednesday, October 12 when they match up against Faulkner University.
A LOOK AT THE OPPONENT
Milligan College sits at 20-7 overall and 10-3 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. The Buffaloes won their last match against Columbia College on October 4, but have dropped two of their last five matches. The Milligan orchustrated by Kellee Geren. Geren leads the AAC in assist with 9.44 per set. Her main targets in the offense are the dynamic duo of Marissa Langford and Samantha Bruinius. Together they combine for 50% of the Buffaloes offense. Defensively the Buffaloes are led by Charlie Bateman. Her 101 blocks on the year lead the AAC.
