DALTON, Ga. - The Dalton State women's volleyball team avenged a loss earlier in the season to William Carey, defeating the Crusaders 3-1 on Senior Night, Friday, October 21 in Bandy Gymnasium.  Dalton State improves to 7-13, 6-7 in the SSAC, while William Carey falls to 6-16, 4-10 in the Southern States.

The Roadrunners started the match off slow, down 3-0, but rebounded quickly to tie at 3-3.  The rest of the set continued to go back and forth.  With the score tied at 17-17, the Lady Roadrunners would go on a 5-1 run to take command of the set and finish with a 25-21 win.  The second set would see the Roadrunners climb out of a huge defecit.  Down 22-16, the Lady Birds would go on an 8-2 run to tie the match at 24-24.  Junior Grace Hardin ended the set with two major kills to give the Roadrunners a 28-26 win.

Set three saw the Crusaders stage a comeback of their own as they steadily chipped away at a 16-11 DS lead to eventually tie the match at 20-20.  From that point, William Carey would outscore the Roadrunners 6-4 to take set three 26-24.  Set four would be like the previous three, tight.  Midway through the set and with Dalton State trailing 15-11, sophomore Olivia Keegan had a monster kill that would kick-start a DS rally.  The Roadrunners would chip away at the Crusader lead before tieing the set at 19 all.  The Lady Roadrunners would close the set out on a 6-1 run to win 25-20 and take the match.

Offensively, the Roadrunners were led by Olivia Keegan.  Keegan would record a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs.  Grace Hardin added 10 digs, while Ryan Burke had 9.  Brooke Thomas (25) and Clarissa Weber (22) combined for 47 assist, setting up the offense.  Defensively, the Roadrunners were led by Karly Newman, 25 digs, and Anna Metzler, 19 digs.
