Roadrunners Drop Conference Match To Faulkner

DALTON, Ga. - The Dalton State volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to SSAC foe Faulkner in Bandy Gymnasium, on Wednesday night.

The Roadrunners started off sluggish, losing the first set 25-15.  Faulkner jumped out to a quick 10-3 lead in the second set, but the Roadrunners would not give up.  Down 24-14, Dalton State would go on a 5-0 run to close the gap to 5, but the Eagles proved to be too much as Alysa Klassen would slam home a kill on the very next point to close out the set.

The Lady Roadrunners would come out in the third set determined and raced out to a 9-3 lead.  Faulkner would chip away at the Dalton State lead and tied the score at 18-18.  The Roadrunners would respond with a 3-0 run to take a 21-18 lead and force a Faulkner timeout.  The Eagles would battle hard out of the timeout and closed the set on a 7-0 run, capturing the sweep.

With the loss the Lady Roadrunners fall to 4-7 in conference play and 5-13 overall.  Faulkner improves to 8-3 in the SSAC and 12-11 overall.

The Roadrunners were out-hit .193-.110 over the three sets and committed 17 attack errors.

The Roadrunners were led in scoring by Anna Metzler. Metzler had a team-high 8 kills, while adding 7 digs and 1 assist to the stat line.  Junior Grace Hardin added 5 kills and 2 blocks.  Senior setter Clarissa Weber led the Roadrunner offense with 11 assist.

The Lady Roadrunners will have Thursday off before returning to action on Friday, October 14 when they host Brenau University at 7:00 p.m. in Bandy Gymnasium.

ON THE HORIZON
Dalton State will host Brenau University on Friday, October 14 at 7:00 p.m.  The Roadrunners will have a week off before William Carey comes to town on Friday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m. for Senior Night in Bandy Gym.  The Lady Roadrunners will close out their home season on Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23 when they host Mobile and Loyola-New Orleans.
