Campbellsville, KY. – The Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders knocked off NAIA No. 1 Dalton State, 79-71, Friday night in the first game of the Lou Cunningham Classic at Campbellsville University's J. K. Powell Athletic Center..

Dalton State held a one point advantage in the first half at 32-31, but the Blue Raiders went on a run to take a 41-33 lead. A three pointer by Jamaine Burrey with one second left pulled the Roadrunners to within five at the break (41-36). Dalton State outscored Lindsey Wilson (KY) in the second half 30-25

The Roadrunners had the ball with time to score before the end of regulation. Marcel Hawkins was called for an offensive foul that ended the threat with three seconds left on the clock. The Blue Raiders never trailed in the overtime, outscoring Dalton State 13-5.

Hawkins and Deshawn Ruffin led DS scorers with 19 points each. Hawkins also pulled down nine rebounds. Corey McDonald had 12 points and seven rebounds. Jordan Bowling had nine points and nine rebounds. Jamaine Burrey added nine points.

The teams were even on rebounds with 43 each. The difference was at the free throw line where the Roadrunners hit 12/18 free throws to 25/35 for the Blue Raiders.  Lindsey Wilson also hit 38.71% from the field to Dalton State's 34.21%.

Bryan Wallace led Blue Raider scorers with a game high 24 points.

"Our inexperience playing as a team showed tonight," said Dalton State Coach Tony Ingle. "We must to a better job playing and finishing in both halves. The positive is the team did show a lot of tenacity and fight but we cannot win too many games when an opponent gets 25 points from the four line and we only attempted 18 all night which proves we have do a better job in the drawing fouls department."

Dalton State plays at No. 18 Campbellsville (KY) Saturday as the Lou Cunningham Classic continues at 4 p.m. EDT (3 p.m. CDT). Campbellsville knocked-off Ohio - Chillicothe Friday night, 119-52.
