Dalton State Volleyball Sweeps Belhaven at Home

Dalton State volleyball knocked off the Lady Blazers from Belhaven University in straight sets Friday night (25-19, 25-18, 25-23 = 3-0) at B. J. Bandy Gymnasium/Coach O Court.

"It was a tremendous team effort. We played great," said Lady Roadrunner Coach Bruna Langner. "We keep getting better and better. Hopefully we will continue to improve."

DS setters Michala Askew and Clarissa Weber worked their games to perfection. Askew had 22 assists, two serving aces, and five defensive digs.  Weber had 15 assists, one serving ace, and four digs.

Kianna Delaney tallied a match high13 kills along with four digs and one serving ace. Savannah Nelson had eight kills. Alyne Bianchi had seven kills, seven defensive digs, and one assist. Anna Metzer and Wendy Perez each added six kills. The Lady Roadrunner's Anna Dykes had three kills, three defensive digs, and one assist. Karly Newman added six digs.



The hosts came out on all cylinders taking an early 9-3 lead. The Lady Blazers bounced back following a time-out to take their only lead of the set, 15-14. DS scored the new two points and were never tied again in the set. BU did pull to within one at 20-19 before the Lady Roadrunners scored the final 5 points.

The second set was close early on, but with DS never trailing. The only Belhaven tie was at nine. Dalton broke open the game by scoring eight of the next nine points. The game was never close again.   

The Lady Blazers refused to give up. In game three, Dalton State had a seven point lead at 15-8.The visitors came back to take their only lead of the set at 23-22. The Lady Roadrunners closed out the match with a three point run.



After Saturday, the Lady Roadrunners will have four games on the road. DS travels to Central, SC on Tuesday (September 30) to play Southern Wesleyan at 7:00 p.m.

Dalton travels to Tennessee for a couple of conference matches. Martin Methodist in Pulaski will be October 3^rd at 7:00 p.m. CDT. That is 8:00 p.m. our time. Dalton State plays Saturday, October 4^th, at Bethel University  in McKenzie with first served at 1:00 p.m. CDT.

The Lady Roadrunners play at Reinhardt University on October 14^th at 6:30 p.m. EDT before hosting Loyola at 5:00 p.m. on October 17^th.
