A 30-Point Swing: Dalton State Basketball Comes From 13 Points Down To Win By 17, 94-77

Brunswick, GA - The Dalton State basketball Roadrunners (25-4) were down by three at the half (46-43). Dalton State dominated the second half 51- 31 to pull away from Coastal Georgia (11-16) and win, 94-77.

"We got behind early primarily because of our lack of concentration on our main defense," said Roadunner Coach Tony Ingle. "We probably won the game because of the way we held our composure when we got down by 13 (38-25 with 7:02) and managed to pull to within three points at the break."

The largest lead for DS was at 22 points (93-71 and 94-72).

LaDaris Green and Ricky Sears led the way.  Green had a double double with 26 points and 12 boards. He was a near perfect 13-14 from the foul line.  Sears had 21 points and seven rebounds in his final road game for the Roadrunners.  He was 3-6 from outside the arc.

Anthony Hilliard and Tyrel Edwards each scored 11. Demetrice Jacobs and Preston Earle each added eight points.  Desmond Phillips, Sean Tate, and Erich Allen each scored three.

"LaDaris, Ricky, and Anthony really hit big time baskets when needed," said Ingle. "The unsung hero was Preston Earle's defense on Corey Johnson at the right time of the game."

The Mariner's Johnson shot for a game-high 28 points. PJ Reason scored 13; Chris Orr, 10; Michael Matta nine; and Darren Wyatt eight.

Dalton hit 30 of 59 from the field (50.85%) including 9-13 three's. They knocked down 73.53% (25-34) from the free throw line. The Roadrunners out rebounded Coastal Georgia, 38-37.

The Mariners were 28-65 from the field (43.08%). They only hit two of 20 three point shots. The hosts were 19-31 in free throws (61.9%).
Reggie Burke came into the game number six in three point shooting for NAIA Division I at 3.23 per game and in total three point shots (84).  The Roadrunners held him to just five points including one of 10 from long distance.

"We showed a lot of the old Roadrunner spirit," said Ingle. "I could not be more proud of our team
for their heart and composure."

The Roadrunners return home for the final game of an exciting first season of four year basketball. They host Tennessee Temple Tuesday night at 7 at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center.

Ricky Sears, Demetrice Jacobs, and Desmond Phillips as the first ever seniors to play basketball for Dalton State.
