Volleyball Hits The Road Riding a Three Game Win Streak
 
The Dalton State volleyball team finished off a week of home games and victories with a straight set Saturday win on Coach O Court.
 
The Lady Roadrunners broke opened a 10-10 in the first game and beat Bethel going away 25-19. The second set was anybody's game until the end. The final Lady Wildcats lead was at 20-19.  Dalton State 25 Bethel 23.
 
The Lady Warriors wouldn't give up. Their final lead of the match was 10-9 in set three and the last tie was at 13 before Dalton State went on for the 25-20 victory.

Alyne Bianchi had a dozen kills in her final home game in a Lady Roadrunners uniform. ""It's good to end at home with a victory like that, "Bianchi said. "We've been working hard and it's paying off. I think our attitude was great. Everybody was pretty positive and going for the ball.."

Savannah Nelson had six kills and four blocks. Wendy Perez added six kills.  Karly Newman had 13 digs. Ashley Nations had three serving aces. Michala Askew had 32 assists. "We played our hearts out for Alyne," Askew said. "We came together as a family."

"We're playing really well right now," Dalton State Coach Bruna Langner said. "This was a great win. It wasn't just one or two players getting it done. Our whole team played as a unit."










 




























The Lady Roadrunners (14-10, 9-7) tallied nine wins against just three losses in the first season ever of volleyball in the newly renovated B. J. Bandy Gymnasium.
 
Dalton State finishes the regular season by traveling to Mount Vernon, GA for a Friday, 7:00 p.m. game at Brewton-Parker and a Saturday, 2:00 p.m. game against Coastal Georgia in Brunswick.
 
The Lady Roadrunners will also play in the SSAC volleyball tournament Friday, November 13, through Saturday, November 15 at the Compton Bowl Multiplex in Montgomery
.                                     

The SSAC tournament will feature the top eight teams from the regular season.

Dalton State is currently in sixth place with a .563 average. The College of Coastal Georgia is entrenched in first place. The Lady Mariners are 27-1 on the regular season and are unbeaten in conference 16 outtings (.1,000). Second place Mobile is 25-3 on the season. Their only two SSAC losses were to Coastal Georgia.

Brenau (18-10, 10-6,.625) moved into third place on Saturday with their straight set (25-19, 26-16, 25-15) win over Martin Methodist. Bethel (17-12, 9-6,.600) fell to fourth with losses at Brenau and Dalton State. Faulkner (20-10, 10-9,.588) is in fifth after losing to Mobile on Friday (27-25, 20-25, 6-25, 17-25), 4-1. The Lady Eagles defeated Loyola Saturday (20-25, 25-18, 25-18, 25-22), 4-1.

The Lady Roadrunners have a comfortable lead over seventh place Martin Methodist (8-15, 6-11,.313). Loyola (11-17, 5-11,.313) is in eighth.  Belhaven (9-18, 2-15,.118) and Brewton-Parker (2-22, 0-16,.000) are out of the tournament.
