Roadrunners Lose Exhibition Game at Division I Jacksonville State

Jacksonville, AL – Division I Jacksonville State University took advantage of early Dalton State foul troubles Friday afternoon to come from behind and hand the Roadrunners an Exhibition Game loss, 85-61.

Dalton started strong and jumped out to a nine point lead, 19-10, with 11:13 left in the first half. The Roadrunners hit 5 of their first 7 from behuind the arch. But it was apparent early on that the Roadrunners were drawing far too many fouls.

With those foul worries slowing down the visitors, the Gamecocks came back to lead by four at the half, 38-34. Dalton finished the night 7 of 22 in three-point shots.

Raheem Mosley fouled out early in the second half with no points and only five rebounds. He only played 14 minutes in the game. By then, Ricky Sears, Preston Earle, and Demetrice Jacobs each had four fouls. Sears was limited to 20 minutes.

The Roadrunners were out rebounded 42-25. JSU hit 26 of 33 from the foul line, 78.8%. DS hit 18-23, 78.3%. The Gamecocks out to a 30 point second half lead.

Jacobs scored 14 Dalton points, Earle 13, Sears 11, Sean Tate 9, and Anthony Hilliard 6.

Darion Rackley led JSU with 27 points and six rebounds, Undra Mitchem 17 points and five rebounds, Grant White scored 11.

"Playing against Division I caliber players in a D-I atmosphere really taught our players something we could not learn any other way," said Dalton State coach Tony Ingle. "I'm glad this was an exhibition game for us and did not count against our won-liss record. We must learn from this game and continue improving as a team. We are glad everyone on the team got to play."

Attendance was 982 at Pete Mathews Colisieum in Jacksonville, AL.

Dalton State (8-1) returns home to face Auburn Montgomery on Tuesday night at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center. Tip-off will be at 7:00 p.m.
