First Game A BIG Success
Roadrunners Win in Mobile, 69-66
Mobile, Al. –Dalton State scored 28 points off turnovers Wednesday night for a 69-66 win at Spring Hill College.
In the school's first ever basketball game as a four year school, the Roadrunners had trailed at the half by one, 34-33. They outscored the Badgers in the second half, 36-32.
A couple of clutch free throws by Dalton's Sean Tate put the Birds up by three with .4 seconds left in the game. Spring Hill unsuccessfully tried the long pass and score as the clock ran out.
During the game, Dalton State had 28 points off turnovers compared to just four for Spring Hill. In addition, the Roadrunners outscored the Badgers from the foul line 13 to 5.
"When Raheem (Mosley) picked-up his fourth foul early in the second half, we had to play small ball," DS Coach Tony Ingle said. "Raheem was five for five, 100% from the floor and pulled down some big time rebounds. Mosley ended up only playing around 16 minutes. The players really responded and our defensive effort was OUTSTANDING."
"D.J. (Demetrice Jacobs) was amazing," Ingle added. (Preston) Earle was a work horse. I am extremely proud of the team and the poise they showed late in the game."

Demetrice Jacobs led Dalton scorers with 21 points. He also pulled down 11 rebounds. Ricky Sears scored 18, including 4-12 from three point range. Raheem Mosley scored 11, Anthony Hilliard and Preston Earle each scored seven, and Sean Tate added 5.
Fredrick Gatson had 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Badgers. Alex Looney added 12 points.
Next Up for Dalton State
The Roadrunners travel to Clinton, MS., northwest of Jackson, for a game against Belhaven University.
Friday night's contest is a home game for Belhaven, but problems at the Blazers' gym in Jackson forced a move to the campus of Mississippi College.
The 3,500 seat A.E. Wood Coliseum, also known as The Golden Dome, will host the 7:00 p.m. central time game.
Founded in 1826, Mississippi College is the second oldest Baptist affiliated college in the United States and the oldest college in the state of Mississippi. With more than 5,000 students, it is roughly the same size as Dalton State. MC is the largest private college in the state of Mississippi.
Friday night's match-up will be the first game of the season for Belhaven, who finished last season with a 12-18 overall record (8-10 in the Southern States Athletic Conference). A recent coach's poll picked the Blazers to finish this season 10th in the 15-team SSAC.
On Tuesday night, November 5, the Roadrunners will visit Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC (near Clemson). Tip-off will be at 7:00 p.m. EST.
