The Silver Downs The Blue

The real winners Saturday night were Dalton State basketball fans. The silver knocked off the blue in a back and forth game at Dalton High School gym, but the 70-64 score and individual statistics were not as important to most fans as the excitement of seeing college basketball return to Dalton.

Ricky Sears seemed like he was all over the court for reasons that became evident as early as the warm-ups. All of the senior's teammates on both sides joined him in wearing #1. That made keeping score very difficult, if not impossible.

A lot of attention on the night centered around Roadrunner coach Tony Ingle returning to his hometown.

Dalton State assistant John Redman coached the winning silver squad with assistance from Coach Ingle's Dalton JUNIOR College coaches Mel Ottinger and Dick Coleman, below:

Some Dalton State basketball personnel got to know each other a little bit better. U104.5 plans to carry at least 21 Roadrunner games this year beginning with the November 7th home opener. Randall Davidson, seen below with mascot Rage, will do the play-by-play...

David Witherow, below with Coach Ingle, will be the home announcer for the Roadrunners at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center.

The very athletic Dalton State cheer squad had an opportunity to show their skills.

And they joined Rage, athletes from other Dalton State teams, and coaches, even Coach Ingle, in a dance.

The Roadrunners now have three road games, before the home opener.

Dalton State basketball opens up the regular season Wednesday night, October 30, at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Al. They will then continue on to Jackson, Ms. to play Belhaven University Friday night, November 1. The third road game will be at Southern Wesleyan in Central, SC.on Tuesday, November 5.

The first home game at Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center will be on Thursday, November 7. Dalton will host Hiwassee College of Madisonville, Tn.
