Nery Martinez joined the Dalton State soccer program in 2016 as a volunteer assistant and begins 2017 as one of Kerem Daser's top assistants.
A 2011 graduate of Dalton High School, Nery is excited about coaching collegiate soccer in her hometown. While in high school, she was selected to the All-Area Team as a junior (2010) and senior (2011). She was also All-Area Honorable Mention her sophomore season (2009).
Upon graduating from high school, Martinez signed to play collegiately at NCCAA Division II member Atlanta Christian College in East Point, Ga. Atlanta Christian would soon change their name to Point University and move their main campus to West Point, Ga.
During her freshman season, Martinez was named to the NCCAA D-II Women's Soccer All-Region First Team, while also being named to the All-Tournament Team, and Outstanding Offensive Player at the National Championships as Point finished their final NCCAA season as the national runner-up . She capped her stellar freshman season off with being named an NSCAA/Continental Tires NCCAA Division II First Team All-American.
At the beginning of her sophomore season, Nery would begin her three-year run as team captain. The Seahawks would struggle their first two years of NAIA competition but Nery continued to excel, scoring nine goals and seven assist.
In her senior season, Martinez scored five goals and added four assist for a four year total of 32 goals and 11 assist. She graduated in 2015 with a B.S. in Child Youth Development and a Minor in Biblical Studies.
Since 2015, she has been been involved in the Dalton Public School System as a paraprofessional while beginning work on her Masters Degree in Special Education.
