Jorge Hurtado born August 20, 1995 in Dalton, GA. Son of Jose Hurtado and Maria Jacquez. He has an older sister Maria Hurtado and a younger brother Jose Hurtado Jr. who is currently attending Dalton State. Jorge is an uncle to a five year old, Maili Hurtado.
He played travel soccer for East Ridge Express 96 Red (ERSA), a soccer club located in the Chattanooga area for about 10 years. He participated in a variety of tournaments in the Northeaster, Eastern and Southeastern part of the US. He is a Division III and Division II State Champion with ERSA. He was also captain for ERSA throughout his years of playing for them. After club soccer he moved up and played at the college level here at Dalton State for three consecutive years (2015, 2016, & 2017).
He obtained the Coach's Award in 2015 and Character Award in 2016-2017. Also in 2017 he was on the All-Academic Team for our conference. Summer of 2018 he played for the Knoxville Force, a semi-pro soccer team in the NPLS.
He quickly had to transition into a player assistant for the DSC program. He claims that even after playing soccer since he was 5 he never saw himself being a coach. He took the opportunity and he is enjoying it more and more as the time goes on. He believes his passion and love for soccer is making his transition a lot easier than what he expected it to be. Jorge is excited for what is to come and learning every step of the way.
He is currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in criminal justice with a minor in business here at Dalton State. He is expected to graduate May 2019. After graduating he hopes to continue his education, but in a nutritional field given the fact that he wants to expand his knowledge about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle that does not only make you look good but also feel good.
Some of Jorge's other hobbies include; hanging out with family and friends, playing tennis, hiking, and reading.
