Jared Eddy

Jared Eddy was hired as Assistant Coach for the Dalton State Cross Country/Track & Field program on August 16, 2023. During the day, Eddy is a professor at McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tenn.

PATH TO DALTON STATE
Eddy began his running career in high school with the Chattanooga Jets Track Club and ran at Chattanooga Central High School. During his four years in high school, he was a two-time state medalist in 4x400M Relay at the Tennessee Indoor State Championship, an AAU National Qualifier in the 3000m, an All-Region 3 A-AA Cross Country selection, and placed 7th in the 4x800M at the TSSAA State Championship. He holds the school-record in the 3000M and the 4x800M relay.

He then signed and continued his athletic career at Carson-Newman University where he ran cross country and track at the NCAA DII level. Simultaneously, Eddy completed the Army ROTC program. He graduated from Carson-Newman in May of 2021 with a BA in Theater Education.

Eddy’s next stop was in Beaufort, S.C. where he was hired as the Head Cross Country Coach and Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Battery Creek from June 2021 - June 2023. Eddy commanded both the Women’s and Men’s Cross Country teams during his tenure. He led the first female individual qualifier to the 2022 3A SCHSL State Meet and a 1st team Selection at the SCHSL State Qualifier. Both honors had not been achieved in over 12 years. While at Creek, Eddy also led the Women’s Soccer team to the SCHSL 3A Playoffs both years at the helm and owns the school record for most wins in a single season for the sport (11-7-1).

TIME WITH THE ROADRUNNERS
During his first season as an assistant coach, the Lady Birds placed four student-athletes on all-conference teams and seven more on conference all-academic squads. Runner Giselle Dominguez also won the 2023 SSAC Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.
