Women's XC/T&F-Carrie Bishop

Carrie Bishop

Carrie Bishop was hired as the 4th Head Coach for the Dalton State Cross Country/Track & Field program on July 11, 2023. Bishop is a local product herself as a Southeast Whitfield alum. She graduated from Tennessee Tech University in 2004 with a Bachelor degree in Heath and Physical Education. While at Tennessee Tech she trained runners individually as a student and won an intermural national championship in basketball.
 
PATH TO DALTON STATE
Bishop has spent her career at the high school level having coached various sports such as softball, volleyball, and basketball at Southeast Whitfield High School the past 19 years. She began coaching the boy’s and girl’s cross country teams 13 years ago, coaching just the boy’s team the last six.
 
Over that time her teams reached the state meet eight times with a highest finish of 5th in 2021, part of three-straight top 10 finishes in Georgia AAAA.  In 2017, the Raiders won the highly competitive Region 7-AAAA championship. She has also coached two region runner-up and one all-state runner.


TIME WITH THE ROADRUNNERS
In her first season, the Lady Roadrunners collected one team win in cross country while having two runners claim all-conference selections. In track & field, the Lady Birds had two more all-conference team members and collected a 4th place team finish to equal the cross country team.

She is married to Murray County High School graduate and 2-time NCAA High Jump National Champion Eric Bishop. The two have three children, Wyatt (16), Lyric (11), and Miles (8).
