Lyon And Saunders Lead Dalton State To Dominant First-Half Performance

DALTON, Ga. - Dalton State delivered a commanding performance at Dalton Stadium on Thursday night, defeating Florida College 15-0. The Lady  Roadrunners controlled every aspect of the game, out-shooting the Falcons 61-0 and recording 11 corner kicks to none.
FIRST HALF
Dalton State came out strong in the opening half, controlling possession and creating early scoring opportunities. Goalkeeper Maggie Rickerd made several key saves to keep Johnson off the scoreboard, including back-to-back stops in the 4th and 6th minutes.

The scoring opened in the 12th minute when Lexi Lyon netted an unassisted goal, giving Dalton State a 1–0 lead. Just over ten minutes later, Aoife Saunders doubled the lead with a penalty kick goal in the 23rd minute, marking her first of the season.

Johnson attempted to respond with a series of shots and corner kicks, but Rickerd's solid goalkeeping and a disciplined Dalton defense held firm. The half ended with Dalton State leading 2–0.
SECOND HALF
The second half saw fewer scoring chances but continued intensity. Johnson's Lexi Hatch nearly shifted momentum with a shot that hit the crossbar in the 54th minute. Despite several substitutions and tactical adjustments, Johnson couldn't break through Dalton's defense.

Dalton State maintained composure and managed the clock effectively. Ria Cox and Sophia Calkins received yellow cards in the second half, but the team avoided further disciplinary issues.

Both teams traded possession and shots, but neither found the back of the net in the final 45 minutes. The match concluded with Dalton State securing a 2–0 victory.
