#4 Roadrunners Win Again In Mississippi

WEST POINT, Miss. – #4 Dalton State dominated the field, finishing as the only team under-par and taking a 30-stroke victory in the BMCU Spring Classic at Old Waverly Golf Course in West Point, Miss. on Monday and Tuesday.
 
#4 Dalton State (Ga.) (863, -1) won their fourth tournament of the season and second this Spring, with conference opponent #22 Point (Ga.) second at 892 (+28). (RV) Cumberland (Tenn.) finished one stroke back in third at 893 (+29), while UT Southern (Tenn.) (894, +30) finished fourth. (RV) St. Thomas (Fla.) and #20 William Carey (Miss.) (895, +31) tied for fifth to round out the top-5.

RECAP
ROUND 1
Dalton State trailed William Carey (Miss.) by one-stroke after the first round with a team total of 295 (+7). Jack Whaley completed the round at 1-under par with a score of 71, while Tyler Latimer recorded a round score of 73 (+1). Joe Getley secured a round at 3-over 75, with Ben McFadden landing the fourth score with a 4-over 76. Barrett Loftis matched McFadden's round score of 76 (4-over par) as Dylan John shot 2-over 74 as the individual.
 
ROUND 2
Whaley delivered an outstanding performance, maintaining his position at the top of the leaderboard with a spectacular 7-under-par 65 as the team fired 12-under 276. Jack's consistent play across both the front nine (32) and back nine (33) earned him a total score of -11.
 
McFadden carded an impressive 4-under-par 68, bringing his total to -1. Ben showcased a solid back nine (33), closing the gap with steady play. Latimer concluded his round at even par (70), showing balanced scores of 34 and 36 across the front and back nine, respectively.
 
Getley and Loftis both ended their rounds with challenges. Joe's round of 73 (+1) included a strong front nine (35), while Barrett battled back for a 75 (+3), highlighted by a comeback on the back nine (35). John faced difficulties as an individual, finishing the day with a 7-over-par round of 79.
 
ROUND 3
Whaley continued to dominate the leaderboard with exceptional play, holding on to the top spot with an impressive total score of -11, earning individual medalist honors. His Round 3 performance saw him card a 69 (-3), showcasing consistent birdies and solid pars across the course.
 
McFadden maintained steady progress, finishing the round at 71 (-1) with a mix of birdies, pars, and a few bogeys. Latimer ended the tournament at (E) for the tournament. His score of 73 (+1) in Round 3 reflected a balanced round, including some challenges along the way.
 
Just down the leaderboard, Loftis and Getley both faced difficult rounds. Loftis finished Round 3 with 79 (+7), while Getley's score of 82 (+10) matched Loftis at +14 overall. Despite their struggles, they demonstrated perseverance throughout the day.
 
John had a tough outing, ending Round 3 with a score of 96 (+24), bringing his total to +33 for the tournament. While this round presented challenges, John showed determination on every hole like the rest of the team as they posted 4-over 292.
