Lady Roadrunners Get Much Needed Win Over Point (Ga.)


DALTON, Ga. – Emma Johnson came close to completing a hat trick scoring the only two goals of the match as Dalton State claimed victory over in-state Point (Ga.) in SSAC women's soccer action at Dalton Stadium on Friday night.
 
 HOW IT HAPPENED
 FIRST HALF 
  • NO SCORING
SECOND HALF 
  • (1-0 DS) DS: A beautiful scoring play started when Riley Bennett headed a ball back to Molly Duncan, who kicked it forward to Emma Johnson, who led the ball to the back of the net in the 53'.
  • (2-0 DS) DS: Another great play began on the side of the pitch when Ava Vandoren found Duncan who crossed to an open Johnson to put the match away in the 87'.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (4-0-3 overall, 2-0-2 SSAC) with the win as Point (Ga.) drops to (4-4-2 overall, 1-2-0 SSAC) with the loss. Emma Johnson collected two scores on the day with Molly Duncan picking up two assists. Ava Vandoren and Riley Bennet also accounted for double assists on continues plays.
 
Brooke Alvarez collected another clean sheet in goal in the win. It is her fifth shutout of the season.
 
UP NEXT
The next match for the Lady Roadrunners will come on Saturday, October 5 when the Lady Birds travel to Cochran to take on Middle Georgia State. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
