Lady Birds Burst Out Offensively In 6-3 Win Over Bryan (Tenn.)


DAYTON, Tenn. – Dalton State went on the road for an early afternoon matchup with Bryan (Tenn.) and erupted, putting six balls in the back of the net to collect a 6-3 win over the Lions in Dayton, Tenn. on Tuesday.
 
 HOW IT HAPPENED
 FIRST HALF  SECOND HALF 
  • (3-0 DS) DS: DS attacked early in the second half with Bennett adding a goal to her earlier assist and Cox getting her second helper.
  • (3-1 DS) BC: Ruth Fish and Macey Moore connected in the 56' to get Bryan on the board for the first time.
  • (4-1 DS) DS: Delaney Owen got her first goal of the season in the 66'.
  • (4-2 DS) BC: Bryan cut the deficit to two goals once again in the 67' as Kayleigh Ridley and Ruth Fish hooked up for a goal.
  • (5-2 DS) DS: Silva got her second goal of the afternoon in the 74' with an assist from Ava Vandoren.
  • (6-2 DS) DS: Haley Ingram got her first collegiate goal in the 88' to make it a four-goal contest.
  • (6-3 DS) BC: Ridley and Fish collaborated again shortly after the Lady Roadrunner goal to finish off scoring.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) stands at (1-0-0 overall) with the win, with Bryan (Tenn.) falling to (0-2-0 overall) with the loss. DS held an overwhelming margin in total shots at 27-5 and shots on goal at 18-4. The Lions were more efficient, scoring three goals with their four on frame.
 
Ana Silva collected two goals with Ria Cox netting two assists. Guadalupe Martinez, Riley Bennett, Delaney Owen, and Hailey Ingram also scored for the Lady Birds.
 
UP NEXT
The Lady Roadrunners have one more road clash before returning home as they take on Sewanee (Tenn.) on Friday, August 23. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. (CT).
