Lady Roadrunners Fight Hard But Drop Road Match To Sewanee


SEWANEE, Tenn. –Dalton State held the lead early in the second half, but two late goals from Sewanee proved too much at the Lady Roadrunners dropped their season opener 2-0 to the Lady Tigers at Puett Field in Sewanee, Tenn. on Tuesday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • NO SCORING
SECOND HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: Molly Duncan got the scoring started with a goal to the upper left for the Dalton State lead in the 49'.
  • (1-1 T) SEW: Sewanee tied it up in the 60' when Olivia Rhodes shot high center and over Brooke Alvarez for the equalizer.
  • (2-1 DS) SEW: With time ticking off in the 85' Brianna Fee found Samantha Ferry for the game winner.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) falls to 0-1 on the season with the loss. The Lady Birds outshot the Lady Tigers 11-9 overall and 9-4 on frame but only managed to find the back of the net once.
 
Molly Duncan collected goal number 1 on the season with Brooke Alvarez notching 2 saves. Abby Jones and Leah Adkins combined for 8 saves for Sewanee.

UP NEXT
Dalton State will continue road play with a match at Albany State on Sunday, August 28. Kickoff in Albany is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
