Lady Roadrunners Season Ends With SSAC Tournament Loss To Bethel (Tenn.)


MCKENZIE, Tenn.  – The Lady Roadrunners 2019 season came to an end on Friday afternoon with a 3-1 loss to (RV) Bethel (Tenn.) in the quarterfinals of the SSAC Women's Soccer Championship at Wildcat Stadium in McKenzie, Tenn.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • (1-0 BU): Bethel got on the board early when Elivira Martin received a pass from Jodi Butler and put a shot past Mattie Dollar in the 11' for an early lead for the Lady Wildcats.
  • (2-0 BU): Janine Dennis went in unassisted for the second goal of the afternoon for Bethel in the 56' and a two-score lead.
  • (3-0 BU): Dennis scored her second goal of the day in the 65' on an assist from Brittany Bray.
  • (3-1 DS): The Lady Roadrunners clipped into the lead in the 78' when Adrianna Arjoon headed in a goal on a combined assist from Rocio Carrizales and Sofia Venable.
 
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) ends the season at (6-11 overall, 2-6 SSAC), while (RV) Bethel (Tenn.) improves to (12-4-1 overall, 6-2 SSAC) with the win and advances to the semifinals of the 2019 SSAC Women's Soccer Championship to face #6 Martin Methodist (Tenn.) in Montgomery, Ala.
 
Total shots (16-4) and shots on goal (8-3) were in the Lady Wildcats advantage, while the Lady Roadrunners won the corner kick battle 6-1. Adrianna Arjoon, Keyle Snyder, and Andrea Soto Calderon each got shots on goal for the Lady Birds, with Mattie Dollar collecting five saves in net.
 
Janine Dennis led Bethel with two goals on three shots on goal. Elivira Martin added a goal, while Jodi Butler and Brittany Bray collected assists. Shanay Ricketts had two saves in net for the Lady Wildcats.
