Lady Roadrunners Win Weather Delayed Match At Faulkner

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Dalton State Women's Soccer team picked up their first conference victory since 2017 with a weather delayed victory at Faulkner (Ala.) at Billy D. Hilyer Stadium in Montgomery, Ala. on Saturday.

THE FIRST HALF
Shots started flying early as the Lady Roadrunners tried to get on the board first with a Rocio Carrizales shot in the 4' only to be saved by Megan White. Faulkner got their shot for the first goal in the 10' and 11', but a Faith Pelletier-King shot went wide while a Mattie Dollar saved a shot from Camila Parada.

Both the Lady Roadrunners and Lady Eagles traded shots in the middle portion of the half with neither getting a ball past the goalkeepers. Dalton State took control for the final seven minutes of the half getting three shots on White. Neither made it into the goal as the score remained tied a 0-0 at the half.

A tad over 30 seconds after the Dalton State goal, Carolin Gaeher put a shot on net that mad its way past Dollar to retake the lead for the Lady Eagles, 2-1. The Lady Birds turned up the heat looking for the equalizer, but White stopped multiple chances to keep the Faulkner lead.

With time ticking away Dalton State found the goal they need as Adrianna Arjoon hit a penalty kick after a foul in the box with 9:50 remaining to tie the match at 2-2. After traded shots the Lady Roadrunners hit the go-ahead goal with 4:52 on the clock when Andrea Lopez knocked it past White. The defense did not allow another shot by the Lady Eagles and got back to .500 overall with a 3-2 road win.
