Lady Roadrunners Fall To (RV) Georgia Gwinnett

DALTON, Ga. - Quick attacking (RV) Georgia Gwinnett handed Dalton State their first loss of the season, 3-0 at Lakeshore Park on Monday evening.

THE FIRST HALF
The Grizzly's took the initial possession and jumped out quick, scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes of the contest. The first came off the leg of Dominique Fletcher, while the second came from Bristol Countess. The Roadrunners would have trouble clearing the ball out of the zone in the first half, leading to the two early scores. Senior netminder Rachel Hardin would have a busy first half dealing with a fleury of Grizzly shots. The third Gwinnett goal of the night would come after a save from Hardin trickled away to a sprinting Caitlin Berry, who found the back of the net. The Lady Bird D would hold tight the rest of the half for a 3-0 halftime score.

THE SECOND HALF
The Lady Roadrunners came out of the break electrified and ready to play. They would get a quick chance at a score, but the opportunity from Adriana Romero would sail high. The defense would hold strong the remainder of the game, thwarting a late Gwinnett surge to hold the final score at 3-0.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State drops to 1-1-1 overall with the loss, while Georgia Gwinnett improves to 1-3. The Lady Birds struggled to get the offense going, but had a solid outing on defense. Rachel Hardin led the way with 14 saves on the evening. The Roadrunners will be back in action on Saturday, September 9 when they take on Talladega (Ala.) at 1:00 p.m. at Lakeshore Park.
